There’s something very special relating to this Chinatown hotel. You’ll feel the history of the area the 2nd you step inside – originally a vaudeville theatre built-in 1926, the home was beautifully, impressively redesigned in 2000 like a 3,500 sq. ft residence. It re-opened to the public in 2022, for the first time in Two decades – there’s literally background and creativity in each and every inch of the space. It’s expensive hotels, but not one like you’ve ever visited before, with almost 100 years of history to its name. Celebrated as one of the most interesting and unusual venues in LA (often used for parties, photoshoots and events), it’s a feat of design and architecture that can be yours privately for the weekend or longer. I mean, just look at those clean lines and also the expanse of space.
Hotel Kim Sing Review: The History
The Kim Sing Theatre has become available to public the very first time in over 10 years. The theatre continues to be converted into a stunning event space, or an overnight hotel for approximately 9 guests sleeping comfortably within the beautiful space. This is a hotel rich in history – it had been originally opened in 1926 as a vaudeville house, later like a looking for Kung Fu films and later left empty. The home was originally renovated by William Ford, son of Harrison Ford, who owned the home since 2000. The home has been wonderfully resorted, with modern fittings, such as a large kitchen, internal courtyard and AV room. In late 2022, property firm Indra & Co obtained the home and there’s plans for this to become a restaurant and occasional shop this summer. Good stuff.
Hotel Kim Sing Review: The Accommodation + Amenities
If you need to experience something special, this is the spot for you. At the Hotel Kim Sing, you can experience Downtown Los Angeles in a historic theatre setting. It’s the ideal spot for groups; the residence can sleep up in 9 people, across three bedrooms, with en-suite bathrooms. There’s some really great amenities at the residence, including the perfect set-up for any movie night: 65″ HDTV with cable and Chromecast, projector and indoor/outdoor speaker systems.
There’s all of the privacy you could want here with your personal private courtyard, private garage entry with two parking spaces and laundry facilities. It’s the perfect spot for a large group of friends, having a spacious full kitchen, well suited for hosting dinner get-togethers. We loved the luxury in-room amenities, too, for example luxury toiletries, quality linens and Casper mattresses. What’s more, there’s an on-site speciality coffee shop in the residence, SPLA, to pick up your tea and lots of great shops in the local area.
Hotel Kim Sing: The Area
Downtown Los Angeles has a lot to provide, from great restaurants to lively bars and top art galleries. The central business district of LA, Downtown is remarkably shiny and sexy when compared to remaining city. There’s some note-worthy attractions a stone’s throw in the Kim Sing, including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Broad, Grand Park and Union Station. For food, you can’t miss a trip to Grand Central Market, that is a great European-style food hall having a range of cuisines, bars and restaurants to discover. Hotel Kim Sing is a great gateway to the area; the prime location of the hotel causes it to be the perfect base for exploring Downtown LA.

I mean, your accommodation Kim Sing is really something special indeed. The sheer quantity of space within the rentals are like nothing else in LA, and allows you to relax and breathe like never before inside a hotel. The facilities of the property are really 5*, with fantastic film and movie equipment to help make the perfect night-in with friends. Bring the popcorn, the hotel has everything else. If you’re searching for something truly different in Los Angeles, we cannot recommend a remain at this Downtown LA hotspot more.
